Sheriff WILLIAM P. MULLEN announces the apprehension of Michael Platania, 36, from the Wilkinsburg area of Allegheny County. Platania was wanted after pleading guilty to an array of charges stemming from a sexual assault, that occurred in August of 2006, involving a girl under the age of 16. Platania was scheduled to be sentenced on Thursday morning, but failed to appear. Two Criminal Bench Warrants were issued and Deputy Sheriffs immediately began the search. Deputies searched several residences over the past 48 hours and successfully located Platania at a home in the 300 block of Ohio Avenue, in Clairton.

 Michael Platania plead guilty to the following charges: Rape --Forcible Compulsion, Indecent Deviate Sexual Intercourse --Forcible Compulsion, Statutory Sexual Assault, Endangering The Welfare of Children, Corruption of Minors, Resisting Arrest, and Public Drunkenness. Michael Platania has been lodged in the Allegheny County Jail and will remain there until a new sentencing date is set by the Court of Common Pleas.
