Sheriff William P. Mullen is pleased to announce the arrest of Walter Matthews, 49 years of age from the Homewood section of the City of Pittsburgh.  Matthews was wanted on a Bench Warrant that was recently issued by the Family Division of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas.  Matthews failed to appear for proceedings related to child support matters and was subsequently placed on the Sheriff’s Office list of “Most Wanted” individuals, owing nearly $100,000.00 in back child support. Sheriff’s deputies from the Court Security Division learned that Matthews was scheduled to appear in Criminal Court before Judge Rangos, where he was facing trial on an assault charge.  The deputies confirmed the warrant and subsequently located matthews on the 5th floor of the Courthouse.  He was arrested without incident and will await his hearing.
