PITTSBURGH, PA - Sheriff William P. Mullen announces the apprehension Raymond Demus, 41 years old, from Wilkinsburg. Demus was wanted for two counts of Rape of a Child, two counts of Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a Child, two counts of Statutory Sexual Assault, and two counts of Indecent Assault Person Less Than 13 years of Age. Demus, who was out on bond, was in Criminal Court on Tuesday and was offered a plea agreement of 15 to 30 years in jail. Demus, unhappy with the offer that he was given, left the courthouse during a recess and did not return. A bench warrant was then issued for his arrest. Sheriff’s deputies have been searching around the clock for Demus since that time.
This evening at approximately 11:00 these deputies developed information that led them to an address located in the 2300 block of Mannheim Street, in Northside. Upon gaining entry to this residence deputies found Demus hiding behind a large screen television. He was apprehended without incident.
On Wednesday of this week The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office asked the public through the local media for their assistance in apprehending Demus. The response from the public was of great help in this apprehension and is the reason Demus could be apprehended so quickly.
Demus will now be held in the Allegheny County Jail without bond until such time that he brought before the court to answer to these charges.
