PITTSBURGH, PA - Sheriff William P. Mullen announces the apprehension of Anthony George, 20 years old, from Northside. George was wanted on two separate warrants. The first warrant accuses George of Aggravated Assault and Endangering the Welfare of Children. These charges stem from an incident that occurred on 11/29/09 at approximately 8:00 p.m. at a residence located in the 3200 block of Richardson Street. When officers interviewed George at the time of this incident he allegedly told investigators that the child had fallen down the stairs. This evening Pittsburgh Police obtained a warrant for George charging with the above charges. The second warrant was issued for George failing to appear in court on a prior assault case. In this case George is accused of assaulting his former girlfriend and two other people. This incident also took place in Northside and allegedly occurred 3/14/09.
This evening Sheriff’s Deputies along with Pittsburgh Police Homicide Detectives began searching for George. After interviewing over a dozen people and searching several houses and hotels these officers learned that George was hiding in a residence located in the 200 block of Zara Street in Beltzhoover. Officers surrounded this residence and were forced to breach the door. Officers were finally able to apprehend George in this residence without incident. George was then transported to the Pittsburgh Police Major Crimes Unit for processing. He will be arraigned on the assault charges involving the child sometime today. George will then be lodged in the Allegheny County Jail on the assault charges involving his ex-girlfriend where he will be held without bond on that case.
