PITTSBURGH, PA - Sheriff William P. Mullen announces the apprehension of Jared Erjavac, 23 years old, from Southside. Erjavac was wanted for violating the conditions of his probation/parole on a 2007 conviction for Statutory Sexual Assault and Corruption of Minors. Erjavac pled guilty to having sex with a 15-year-old girl when he was 21 years old. Erjavac’s probation/parole was violated when new criminal charges were filed against him earlier this week. In the most recent charges, Erjavac is accused of Harassment and Ethnic Intimidation. It is alleged in these new charges that he threatened to kill two bar owners that he was a “made member” of the Genovese crime family. It is further alleged that Erjavac used both racial and ethnic slurs towards these bar owners. Erjavac had just been placed on the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office “Most Wanted” website at 4 o’clock this afternoon and was in custody less than six hours later.

This evening sheriff’s deputies received an anonymous tip that Erjavc had just entered a bar located in the 900 block of Liberty Avenue in Downtown. The tipster was actually calling from inside the location where Erjavac was and stayed on the phone with sheriff’s deputies until they entered this establishment. Erjavac was apprehended without incident. He was then lodged in the Allegheny County Jail where he is now being held without bond.
