PITTSBURGH, PA - Sheriff William P. Mullen announces the David Lapson, 27 years old, from Penn Hills. Lapson was wanted on three separate warrants. The first warrant for Lapson was for violating the conditions of his probation/parole on a 2008 conviction for Robbery. The additional two warrants accuse Lapson of two separate burglaries. The first occurred in Monroeville and the second happened in Harmar Township. Both burglaries are said to have occurred on November 6, 2009.  In both of these burglaries it is alleged that over $30,000 of money, coins and jewelry was stolen.  Most of these items were subsequently recovered from a pawnshop in Penn Hills.  On December 22, 2009, Lapson’s probation/parole was violated because of these new charges.  Sheriff’s deputies have been looking for Lapson since this time.  These deputies did learn early in this investigation that Lapson had possibly fled to Florida, but were never able to develop anything further.

This evening, sheriff’s deputies received a tip from a “Comcast” viewer that stated that they had just seen Lapson at an address located in the 6800 block of Shannon Road in Penn Hills.  These deputies knew this address to be occupied by Lapson’s girlfriend.  Sheriff’s deputies immediately went to this residence and apprehended Lapson without incident.  Lapson was then taken to the Allegheny County Jail where he will be arraigned sometime tomorrow on the two burglary charges and then be held without bond on his probation/parole violation.
