PITTSBURGH, PA - Sheriff William P. Mullen announces the apprehension of Dana Loughner, 41 years of age from Natrona Heights.
In May 2011, Loughner was being held in the Allegheny County Adult Bullpen holding area awaiting transport to jail on unrelated charges. As deputies opened the cell door to transport Loughner, they found her lying in the bullpen with lacerations that needed medical attention. When deputies attempted to provide such attention, Loughner lashed out assaulting a female deputy. Subsequently, the inmate was charged with Aggravated Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person and Assault By Prisoner. After being released from jail, Loughner was required to report to a pre-trial conference in November 2011, which she failed to do so; in turn forfeiting her bond. A warrant was issued shortly thereafter and she was placed on the Sheriff’s Office “Most Wanted” website, along with Comcast “Fugitive Files” On-Demand program.
Yesterday, sheriff’s deputies received information from a Comcast viewer that recognized Loughner after viewing her photo on “Fugitive Files.” The caller believed that Loughner was staying at an address in the 300 block of Onyx Street in Mt Oliver Borough. Following up with this information, deputies went to the home this morning and found Loughner hiding in a bedroom closet where she was quickly apprehended without incident. Loughner was transported to the Allegheny County Jail where she will be held without bond.
