PITTSBURGH, PA - Sheriff William P. Mullen announces the apprehension of Stephen Jay Hozier, 36 years old, from the City of Duquesne. Hozier was wanted on two separate warrants. The first warrant was issued because of Hozier not residing at the address he supplied as required of a Megan’s Law sex offender. Hozier’s probation officer found that when he went to the address given, the occupant of this address told him that Hozier did not ever reside there. The second warrant was for violating the conditions of his probation/parole on the original offense of Indecent Assault Person Less than 13 Years of Age. In November of 2009, Hozier was arrested on several charges related to this crime. He later pled guilty to the one offense and was therefore mandated to a ten-year registration requirement as a sex offender. Sheriff’s deputies have been searching for him since last week when his warrants were issued.
This evening, sheriff’s deputies learned that Hozier has been staying at various locations in Munhall and Homestead. Deputies, along with officers from both these departments searched several locations in an attempt to locate Hozier. At approximately 11:30 this evening, deputies learned that Hozier was currently at a residence located in the 100 block of East Marigold in Munhall. Deputies and officers from Munhall Police immediately went to this address and after gaining access, they found Hozier in the basement. He was apprehended without incident. He will be arraigned in Night Court on the Megan’s Law offense and will then be held without bond on the probation/parole violation.
