COCAINE TRAFFICKER ARRESTED IN OAKLAND

PITTSBURGH, PA – Members of the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Squad arrested Anthony Pearson, 54 of Homewood, yesterday in the Oakland neighborhood of the City of Pittsburgh.  Pearson was wanted on an Allegheny County Family Division warrant for failure to appear in court.  He was also wanted on an active criminal bench warrant from Ottawa County, Oklahoma for aggravated trafficking of a controlled substance (cocaine) and drug possession (marijuana) charges.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. Monday, a deputy sheriff assigned to the F.B.I. Safe Streets Task Force received intelligence Pearson was in the Pittsburgh area.  The deputy confirmed the suspect had failed to appear for court proceedings on the drug trafficking and possession indictments, forfeiting his $225k cash bail bond.

At 10:15 p.m. yesterday evening, the deputy obtained information Pearson was at a bar located at the intersection of Centre and Morewood Avenues in Oakland.  Members of the Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Squad reported to the location, where they surveyed the area and observed Pearson inside the establishment.  The suspect was subsequently taken into custody by Sheriff’s detectives and transported to the Allegheny County Jail without incident.
