SHERIFF'S DEPUTIES APPREHEND MCKEESPORT MURDER SUSPECT
Deputies Investigate, Locate & Arrest Individual
Wanted for the Murder of Ronald Carter

PITTSBURGH, PADerrick Means, 22, was apprehended by deputy sheriffs late Wednesday evening in North Braddock, PA.  The Most Wanted Fugitive, wanted on three outstanding warrants, was sought by authorities in connection with the shooting death of 29-year old Ronald Carter in McKeesport last week.  Two of the criminal bench warrants were for probation/parole violations on prior firearm and drugs convictions, violations Means committed when he allegedly murdered Carter on October 4, 2016.

Throughout the past week, Sheriff’s deputies have been actively searching Means, a North Braddock resident known to frequent the Mon Valley and West End neighborhood of Pittsburgh.

Late yesterday morning, deputies developed information Means was staying in the 800 block of North Avenue in North Braddock.  When deputies arrived at the residence, they found Means’ vehicle, a charcoal gray Dodge Magnum station wagon, parked against the home, behind bushes.  At this juncture, deputies met with the homeowner, Tallula Thompson, 42, to discuss Means’ whereabouts.  Thompson’s children, Nysier Thompson, 20, and Audyssey Thompson, 24, Means’ ex-girlfriend, were also questioned about the suspect.  All three individuals were notified that Means was a wanted fugitive and that any contact with him could result in arrest for Hindering Apprehension.

Upon leaving the residence, deputies began to search other areas Means was known to frequent.  Later that evening, deputies received intelligence that Means had returned to the Thompson residence in North Braddock.  Deputies immediately reported to the address and announced themselves numerous times without response.  Finally, Tallula Thompson answered the door.  Deputies entered the residence.  Means was located in an upstairs bedroom, where he was taken into custody without incident.  Deputies subsequently arrested Tallula, Nysier and Audyssey Thompson on Hindering Apprehension charges.

All apprehended parties were transported to the Allegheny County Jail.  The Thompson family will await arraignment on new charges, while Means will await hearings regarding his parole/probation violations.  Additionally, Means will be arraigned on Criminal Homicide and Person Not to Possess, Use, Manufacture, Control, Sell or Transfer Firearms charges.
