SUSPECTED CHILD ABUSE FUGITIVE LOCATED IN NAPLES, FLORIDA

PITTSBURGH, PA - Sheriff William P. Mullen announces the apprehension of Ramil Desir, 37 years of age originally from Nigeria.   Desir was wanted on a violation of bond conditions involving a case from April 2016.

He was charged with Aggravated Assault (2), Endangering the Welfare of Children, Terroristic Threats and Simple Assault, stemming from an incident during which he choked a child with a belt.  Due to these charges, a condition of the bond was no contact with children.

On November 16th, Westmoreland County Detectives attempted to make contact with Desir regarding another child abuse case and he denied them entry to his home.  However, while at the address detectives were able to view children at the residence, which in turn violated the conditions of his bond. On November 17th, the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office notified Allegheny County of their observation and a bench warrant was issued for Desir’s arrest.

Since that time, Sheriff’s deputies have been searching for Desir’s whereabouts, leading them to Naples, Florida.  Over the last five days, deputies have been in contact with Collier County Sheriff’s Office (FL) attempting to locate Desir.  Yesterday evening, deputies were able to place Desir at an address on Majestic Circle in Naples, FL.   The information was passed on from Allegheny County Sheriff’s Deputies to those in Collier County, Florida.  Collier Deputies were able to apprehend Desir, without incident, at approximately 1:15 a.m. this morning.  Desir was lodged at their jail and will await extradition to Allegheny County.
