PITTSBURGH, PA - William Leeper, 49, was apprehended by deputy sheriffs this morning in Wilkinsburg, PA.  One of Allegheny County’s Most Wanted Fugitives, Leeper was sought on a warrant issued May 6, 2016 after violating his bond on a Robbery charge.

The indictment stems from an incident that occurred in June 2015, when Leeper encountered a male acquaintance walking near the intersection of French Street and Garrison Way in downtown Pittsburgh.  The acquaintance stated he conversed with Leeper, informing the actor he was about to bail his girlfriend from jail.  Leeper asked the victim if he had the money and the victim responded he possessed over $400 in cash in his coat pocket.  Leeper told the victim he knew a guy who could save him money, prompting the victim to follow the actor down a nearby alley.  Once in the alleyway, Leeper pushed the victim into a dumpster and demanded his bail money.  As Leeper attempted to grab the cash from the victim’s coat, which at the time was no longer on the victim, the victim was able to run from the actor and yell for help.  As the victim had a double pocket coat, Leeper was unable to find the money before he fled the scene.

The Wilkinsburg resident was added to the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office Most Wanted Fugitives List on January 5, 2017.  Earlier this morning, Sheriff’s deputies received an anonymous tip Leeper was at a community center in Wilkinsburg.  Deputies went to the location, where they identified the actor, who was sitting at a table inside the building.  Leeper was subsequently taken into custody by deputy sheriffs without incident and transported to the Allegheny County Jail.
