FIREARMS FUGITIVE CAUGHT IN HOMEWOOD

PITTSBURGH, PA - William Knight, 23, was apprehended by deputy sheriffs this morning in Homewood, PA.  The ‘Most Wanted’ fugitive was wanted on a warrant issued December 6, 2016 for violating his probation/parole on charges of persons not to possess a firearm, altering or obliterating marks of identification and carrying a firearm without a license.

The indictments relate to an incident that occurred in July, 2015 when Wilkinsburg police officers went to the Paul Court apartment complex after a group of men were spotted with a handgun.  One of the individuals, later identified as Knight, was observed taking a firearm from his person and giving it to another individual.  The individual took a photograph with the weapon, before Knight retrieved the gun and placed it in his pants pocket.  Knight subsequently left the scene and went inside the building.  The actor was proscribed from possessing a firearm after being convicted on a prohibited offensive weapons charge. When police encountered Knight in front of the building shortly thereafter, he was placed under arrest. Knight then took police to his Paul Court residence and turned over the firearm, a loaded Taurus PT140Pro pistol.  The serial number on the weapon was obliterated.

Deputies assigned to the Sheriff’s Office’s A.M. Fugitive Squad developed information Knight was staying at an apartment in the 1800th block of Hale Street in Homewood. They went to the location this morning and found Knight in an apartment unit.  The actor was taken into custody by deputy sheriffs without incident and transported to the Allegheny County Jail.
