DEPUTIES TRACK DOWN TWO WANTED SEXUAL
OFFENDERS WITHIN 48 HOURS

PITTSBURGH, PA –  Sheriff Bill Mullen announces the apprehension of Ronald Knight, of Westmoreland County, 23 years of age, and Donald Goldberg, homeless, 56 years of age, both of which were fugitives and registered sexual offenders.

Knight was arrested by police in 2015 and charged with Unlawful Contact with a Minor, Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a Person Less than 16 Years of Age, Sexual Assault, Statutory Sexual Assault, Aggravated Indecent Assault, Corruption of Minors, and Indecent Assault. The charges stemmed from an incident in which Knight was accused of having sex with a female, who was thirteen years old at the time. Knight had met the victim through Facebook and persuaded her to meet him by offering to pay her, purchase her items, or provide her with marijuana. After the incident, Knight left the victim alone in an alley in the Borough of Braddock. Knight told the victim he was going to purchase marijuana for them, but he never returned. After his arrest, Knight pled guilty to several of the violations he was charged with and his sentence included registration as a “Tier Two” Sexual Offender under Megan’s Law, which comes with a twenty-five-year registration requirement. On February 24, 2017, a bench warrant was issued out of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas for Knight for violating the terms and conditions of his probation/ parole.

Goldberg was arrested by police in 2012 and charged with Aggravated Indecent Assault, Unlawful Contact with a Minor, Indecent Assault of a Person Less than 13 Years of Age, Corruption of Minors, and Endangering the Welfare of Children. The charges stemmed from an incident in which Goldberg was accused of sexually assaulting a child several times, which first occurred when the victim was only five years old. After his arrest Goldberg ultimately pled guilty to Indecent Assault of a Person Less Than 13 Years of Age and his sentence included being registered as a “Tier Three” Sexual Offender under Megan’s Law, which comes with a lifetime registration requirement. On February 22, 2017, an arrest warrant was issued for Goldberg for failing to register his location or address to authorities. On February 24, 2017, a bench warrant was issued out of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas for Goldberg, for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of his probation/parole due to the new charges. Allegheny County Sheriff’s Deputies have been searching for both since the issuance of the warrants.

Sheriff’s deputies checked numerous locations throughout Westmoreland County for Knight, but were unable to initially locate him. During the investigation, deputies developed information that sometime in the late evening or early morning hours, Knight would be meeting with a third party around Route 119 in Youngwood. Deputies conducted surveillance for several hours and observed Knight pulling into a gas station nearby. Deputies immediately apprehended Knight without incident.

Deputies had also been searching for Goldberg since the issuance of his warrants. Goldberg had previously registered with Megan’s Law as homeless and gave his frequented area as the Oakland section of the City of Pittsburgh. Through conducting interviews, deputies developed information that Goldberg also was known to frequent the Downtown business section of the City of Pittsburgh. Deputies continued to search for Goldberg between the Oakland and Downtown sections of the City of Pittsburgh, and ultimately located him walking on the sidewalk in the 300 block of 6th Avenue on the afternoon of February 26. Deputies immediately apprehended Goldberg without incident.

Knight and Goldberg were both lodged in the Allegheny County Jail without bond until they are brought before the court.
