In addition to criminal warrants, the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office serves Family Division Bench Warrants. These warrants are issued for failure to comply with court proceedings from the Family Court.
Although a non-support warrant is issued for failure to appear in Family Court in relation to non-payment of child support, many of the warrant suspects also have extensive criminal records for violent crimes and or drug or weapons possession. Once a warrant is executed, all arrested parties are taken to either the Allegheny County Jail or the holding facility at the Family Court Division of the Sheriff’s Office where they will await their respective hearings. The detectives must then assure that the warrant or warrants are properly cleared, that Family Court is notified of the apprehension, and that all arrest reports are completed. Non-Support squad detectives are also responsible for investigating and executing what is known as “foreign warrants”. They are non-support arrest warrants that are sent from jurisdictions outside of Allegheny County by law enforcement agencies whose members believe that their warrant suspect is in Allegheny County. Due to the size of the detective's staff, they carry a very heavy case considering the large number of warrants outstanding in Allegheny County. There are detectives on duty 24 hours a day all year long.
In a more specific fashion, Family Division designates some warrants as "High Priority", which are featured below. "High Priority" warrants include defendants who abscond from alternative housing, direct hearing 'no-show' defendants, support establishment cases and IGD responding cases.
If you know the whereabouts of a wanted non-support fugitive, please call the Sheriff's Office at 412-350-3204. All phone calls are kept completely anonymous. If you do not wish to speak with anyone, you can also submit a tip via the Sheriff's Office Anonymous Tip Sheet. All submissions go directly to the Non-Support Fugitive Squad and tipsters need not submit their information along with the wanted individuals'.
